Have you considered a financial advisor in the past, but felt frustrated that they charge too much, have hidden fees, or seem to have a conflict of interest?

We are a fee-only financial advisor, meaning we never make money from commissions on financial products we recommend. Many financial advisors and nearly all the big banks aren’t able to make this same promise.

We believe fees are one of the biggest drags on financial returns. We strive to educate the public and our clients about the best way to invest in a low-cost way.

FAQ

1. How will you assist me in reaching my financial goals?

The first step of my financial planning process is to learn about you as a person: what are your goals in life, how do your finances fit into that picture, and where are you right now?

The second step is to develop a plan to ensure that your finances support your goals.

The third step is to act on that plan by developing the appropriate investment allocations, opening and funding the right accounts, and updating the plan based on changes to your life circumstances or goals.

2. How are you compensated as an advisor?

I am a fee-only advisor, meaning that my only compensation comes from services I provide to you. I do not receive any commissions or kickbacks on your investments.

My fee structure is based as a percentage of assets under management and assets under advisement. I believe the “industry-standard” of 1% annually on all assets is far too high. Instead, I use a blended-tier rate structure with annualized rates starting at 1% on just the first $150k and falling to 0.50% for $500k and above. Please review my Form ADV Part 2A for a complete pricing discussion.

You can also check out this interactive fee-estimate calculator. Note that actual fees are based on your account value at the end of each quarter.

3. If you accept commissions, will you provide an itemized list of the amount of compensation you earn from the different products you recommend to me (including trails)?

I do not receive any commissions.

4. Do you accept or pay any referral fees?

I do not accept or pay any referral fees.

5. Are you held to a fiduciary standard of care at all times?

I am always held to a fiduciary standard.

6. Will you sign a fiduciary oath to put my interests first at all times?

I would be happy to.

7. What are your professional credentials and experience?

I graduated from Yale University with a degree in Economics and Religious Studies. I have previously worked in investment banking, management consulting, and tech. My previous employers include J.P. Morgan, McKinsey & Company, and several early-stage startups.

8. Have you ever been disciplined by the SEC or FINRA?

No, never.

9. What is your investment philosophy or style?

I believe in a passive strategy. The goal of this strategy is to adopt the appropriate asset allocation based on your risk tolerance and return target. If I do my job correctly, you should feel comfortable with your asset allocation regardless of market conditions.
